We are sending you this email because you are using the BOOK IN web site, BOOK In on-line.
The credit card companies have introduced stringent new security requirements for Ecommerce web sites, such as BOOK IN on-line. Their concern is to minimise the risk of unauthorised access to credit card details held in merchant computer systems.
Our on-line credit card processing service is not affected as it meets the security requirements. All credit card details are entered directly into our Paystation gateway and not stored in BOOK IN on-line.
The change will, however, affect the BOOK IN on line booking calendar and booking system. Hosts who record their bookings in BOOK IN 0n-line and/or have web links on their web sites which enable guests to book with them will no longer be able to record or view credit card details (card numbers and expiry dates) in BOOK IN on-line. There are no changes in respect of other booking details recorded.
If you are going to need the credit card information captured in BOOK IN on-line before 31 March 2014 you will need to copy the details and keep them securely outside BOOK IN on-line.
If you require guests to supply you with credit card details before the stay you will need to arrange with them to post, fax or phone you with the information. It is not safe to email credit card details.
It is also important that guests are fully informed on your charging, cancellation and refund policies. If you cannot document that this has happened the credit card companies may reverse your charge if the guests query the transaction.
