Descriptions

Listings include a variety of boutique accommodation, city and country homes, farms, vineyards, orchards and luxury lodges. They are as varied as our hosts. All properties are independently owned and operated, inspected to ensure very high standards, and our hosts are committed to providing you with the very best in New Zealand hospitality.

“Bed & Breakfast”, “Boutique” and “Guest and Hosted” are general terms for a variety of hosted accommodations which are small and personal with an emphasis on hosting and generous hospitality. Hosts’ local knowledge can contribute greatly to your visit.

Homestays provide hospitality in private homes. You will enjoy a ‘home away from home’ experience and get special insights in to the lives of a wide variety of New Zealanders.

Self-contained accommodation usually includes a kitchen, bathroom, lounge and laundry facilities. It may be an apartment, part of a private home or a separate cottage.

Farmstays, orchardstays, vineyardstays and countrystays are an ideal way to experience rural life in New Zealand. Many offer lunch and evening meals, as shops and restaurants are often some distance away.

Guest Houses and Inns usually cater for more guests, but still offer personal hospitality.

Host Commitment

All hosts in this publication are BOOK IN Partners and are committed to high quality and professional hosting. All listed hosts will accept BOOK IN Passes and Vouchers when they have vacancies.

Reserving in Advance

At times New Zealand accommodation and other travel services are very heavily booked, especially during the summer. To avoid disappointment we recommend reserving in advance where possible. Having your itinerary clearly mapped out can help you ensure that you see and do everything you have dreamed of.

We particularly recommend reserving in advance:

• During the peak season, from November to March
• When you have strong preferences for particular locations or hosts
• When you have limited time.
