Directions
From State Highway 8, travelling north, turn left into Ostler Road, right into Mackenzie Drive; travelling south turn right into Ruataniwha Road and left into Mackenzie Drive. You will see the high pitched green roof of the Lodge and the high green fence. Please turn into Dusky Place for the entrance to our Lodge and car park. The website www.mtcook.co.nz will give you a lot of information on what to do in and around this area - quite stunning! Travelling from Christchurch: If you are able to see Mt Cook from the end of Lake Pukaki (9 kilometres from Twizel) and you are not too tired it is a good thing to turn right a kilometre from the lake and head for Mt.Cook. This will take you about 45 minutes and the Hermitage Hotel has the Sir Edmund Hiliary Alpine Centre where there is a lot to do and see. The staff at reception as you enter the Hotel will advise you on where to go. Also the Information Centre in the village is very helpful. Travelling from Queenstown: If you leave early it will only takes just under 3 hours to reach Twizel and you would have plenty of time to drive to Mt Cook (under 1 hour) for the rest of the day. It is well worth the visit and we could advise you on what to see and do.
